Q&A with Candice Warner: how to prep for the Voltaren City2Surf

Hi everyone, I’m Candice Warner, and I’m proud to be the official Voltaren ambassador for the Voltaren City2Surf 2025!

Whether you’re running, walking or just showing up to be part of the incredible energy, this event is all about movement, community, and celebrating what our bodies can do.

Why I joined the Voltaren City2Surf

When I was invited to team up with Voltaren for this year’s City2Surf, it was a no-brainer. Movement has always been a huge part of my life, from competing professionally to keeping up with my three very active kids, so being part of an event that encourages Australians to move more, with confidence and joy, is something I was really excited about.

The Voltaren City2Surf is more than just a race – it’s a movement of its own. People of all ages and backgrounds come together to do something positive for themselves and the community, and that kind of collective energy is powerful.

Finding the joy in movement

There was a time when movement was purely about performance for me, constantly pushing limits and chasing goals. But now, as a busy mum, movement has become more about consistency, balance, and finding small, meaningful moments of strength in each day.

Whether it’s a quick gym session, a walk along the beach, or dancing around the house with my kids, I find real joy in movement and sharing that with others is one of the most rewarding parts of my routine.

Prepping for the Big Day

If you are getting ready for your first (or any number really) City2Surf, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Train with purpose
A consistent training plan is key, but so is listening to your body. Mix up your training days with stretching, strength work, and active recovery.

  2. Stay mentally strong
Positive self-talk is your secret weapon – especially once you hit Heartbreak Hill. Visualising success and reminding yourself of why you’re doing it can go a long way.

  3. Prioritise recovery
One of the most common mistakes people make is neglecting rest and recovery. Taking care of your muscles before and after the race is crucial. For temporary relief of muscle pain including strains, sprains and aches, Voltaren Pain Relief Gel 12 Hourly can help support your post-run recovery by relieving those aching muscles. ¹

  4. Enjoy the experience
Don’t forget that this race is about celebrating movement and enjoying the journey. Take in the crowds, the costumes, the live music and that amazing Bondi finish line.

The Voltaren City2Surf represents something bigger than just race day. It’s about encouraging Aussies to keep moving not perfectly, but with confidence, strength, and joy. And that’s something I’ll always stand behind.

I can’t wait to see you out on the course!
